Less than seven weeks before the start of the ride so I’ve decided I need to start doing training rides on some weekdays prior to my workday.

My 28 mile route on this lovely morning.

Just a few miles into my ride on Old San Marcos Road just off Cathedral Oaks

8:32AM and at the high point of my ride, 1,400′, on the corner
of Old San Marcos and Hwy 154

Here I am on the western edge of Goleta, 17 miles into my ride

Lots of green on the mountains after all the rains and a nice waterfall if you click to enlarge

A beautiful view over the city and out to the islands from my turnaround
point at Hwy 154 and Old San Marcos Road

The view up the creek across from my house at ride’s end

The map showing my route for today and the location of my four photos below.

Here I am at the high point of my ride,1,400′ at Hwy 154 and Painted Cave Road

A half mile back down. I had to stop for the beautiful view

I’m back close to home at the San Marcos Foothill Preserve
