Andrew and I started at Lompoc’s Home Depot, rode south on Hwy 1, then Jalama Beach road to a hamburger at Jalama Beach State Park, waded in the surf, and back. Seventies temps, clear skies, sunny, no wind, green spring grass, perfect riding conditions.

Dis 38.1 miles, Av 12.1 mph, Mx 33.0 mph, Tm 3hr 7min, Oat 4hr 21 min (8:45am – 1:05pm)

Rode to the East Beach Bath House, then over to the SB Mission to meet the ladies. Rode Gibby loop counterclockwise (Gibraltar/Camino Cielo/Painted Cave) . Ceanothus were in full bloom (white). Manzanitas were also doing their thing.

Dis 40.3 mi, Av 9.4 mph, Mx 31.9 mph, Tm 4 hr 16 min, Oat 6 hr 0 min (7:40am – 1:40pm, includes 92 minutes waiting for  Jill & Kathy to catch up).

Rode with Jill, Kathy, and Florence. Met up at SB East Beach bath house, Coral Casino, Polo fields, Hwy 150, up to Casitas Pass summit, overlooking Lake Casitas, and back (Kathy went on ‘solo’ around the lake to Ventura and back Hwy 101).

Dis 48.2 miles, Av 12.4 mph, Mx 36.1 mph, Tm 3hr 51min, Oat 7 hr 0 min (7:30am – 2:30pm, includes a 30 min wait at Meet Up, 15 min turnaround, and a 45 min lunch with Jill at Stacky’s)

From Java Station, out O’Bern Trail, through UCSB, past Girsh Park, Bacara, CO, St. Ag, O’Bern, Java Station. Eating and fellowship after at Java. Joined by other folk.

Solo ride from home up old San Marcos Road to the intersection of Hwy 154.

(from the Stagecoach historic sign to Hwy 154 took 37 minutes.)

From Hwy 154 to the top of Painted Cave Rd at Camino Cielo took 33 minutes.)

Turnaround and ride back home.

(the descent from Painted Cave/Camino Cielo down to the stagecoach sign took 45 mins.)

Cateye needs batteries, so no statistics.

Oat 3 hr 38 min (H to H, 7:45am – 11:23am)

Rode with Jill and Kathy, out of Los Olivos, down Hwy 154, out Happy Canyon, over Figueroa Mtn, back down to Los Olivos. Got sandwiches to go from the Market Deli on Hwy 154, ate in the Jill’s car driving home.

(6:25am Rode from home to Jill’s , drove to Los Olivos…..)

Dis 40.2 miles, Oat ride 5 hr 0 hr (9:30am – 2:30pm), Oat outting (6:25am – 6:30pm)

‘Next time’ could use more rest stops on the ride, (realistic expectation) I could be dropped both sides of the summit,… sustainable sandwich in jersey.
