Route: Southbound Hwy 101 (approx. 26 miles north of Santa Barbara, just south of the too narrow southbound bridge)> crossover #1 roadway >to northbound Hwy 101 (to past north end of bridge)> crossover #2 roadway> to southbound Hwy 101 north of bridge> denied permission to enter gate at private road Allegro ________> backtrack riding Hwy 101 shoulders against flow of traffic back to starting point.

Riders: Florence (to Gubernador), Jill and Tom all the way.

Dis: 63.2 mi, Av 12.4 mph, Mx 37.3 mph, Tm 5 hr 3 min, Oat 6 hr 45 min

Jill tells me, using my new 10-cog gear and a little practice I could nudge my 37.3 mph max up closer to 50 mph if I draft a semi truck like she has done!

We agree that I will take triathlete Andre' "just to the lowest toe of San Marcos Rd" for a first time look. Well.....he goes half way up, first try!
