Dis 34.9 mi, Av 8.0 mph, Tm 4 hr 19 min, Oat 6 hr 30 min (time was longer than normal…cautious descent due to brake cables needing adjustment…John at Bob’s Bicycle, Santa Barbara got things squared away at the finish, thanks.)

Route: Santa Barbara Mission>up Gibraltar Rd>across Camino Cielo Rd crestline>down Painted Cave and San Marcos Rd>back to start.

Although mostly a warm sunny ride, three patches of snow and black ice covered portions of Camino Cielo Road. Clear views of the Channel Islands….

For ascending Gibraltar Road to La Cumbre Peak summit, shorts were in order.

White snow and solid sheets of black ice cover Camino Cielo Road, west of the Shooting Range.

Jennifer & I exchange ‘road conditions ahead’ (she eastbound, I westbound).

Leggings & lots of layers were in order on Camino Cielo and the descent.

Views of the Channel Islands from Camino Cielo Road (Actually were sharper than the photo captures).
