Dis 71.0 miles, Av 12.4 mph, Mx 35.1 mph, Tm 5 hr 41 miles, Oat 7 hr 15 min (8:45am – 4:00pm, includes: photo op at Split Pea Andersen’s,  lunch stop at Los Olivos Panino’s, snack stop just outside Lompoc). Left home at 7:15am, drove the 65 Ford.

Started at Lompoc Home Depot>Cypress St>San Miguelito Canyon Road> turn around at crest of Right End, after checking the Left End’s ocean view, spot for sex/drug deals/or sex-for-drugs> back to Home Depot> south Hwy 1> east on Santa Rosa Rd>Split Pea Andersen’s> up Ballard Canyon> lunch in Los Olivos at Panino’s> down Ballard Cyn> west on Hwy 246 (head winds, hwy noise, & nut crackers…..next time start in Los Olivos to avoid afternoon headwinds). Tips from locals:  eat at Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard across from Split Pea….Panino’s gives foil and bags to carry out sandwiches in jersey back pockets, there’s a bicycle shop behind Home Depot.)

Dis 39.1 miles, Av 10.2 mph, Mx 35.3 mph, Tm 3 hr 48 min, Oat 8 hr 20 min (7:38am – 4:00pm. Includes Meet Up at Mission fountain, six rest and/or eat stops on the Gibby Loop, three flat tire repair stops, one new tire stop, lunch stop at Cody’s).

I rode from home> at SB Mission Met Up with Spenser G., Jill M., and Kathy V.> rode up Gibraltar> westward on Camino Cielo> down Painted Cave> out Cathedral Oaks to Fairview. Thank you God, for waiting until we were down off the mountain for Spenser’s flat #1. (He was strong paced on the tough Gibby Loop. His first cycling loop and he kept up and lead part way with no complaints.) Spenser’s flat #2 getting out of the Goleta (Hollister Ave) VeloPro bicycle shop. His flat #3 at Sandspit Road near the Airport. Back at VeloPro he bought a new tire & tube. Hunger lead us to Cody’s Restaurant for lunch. Then on home, with sound tires and no more flats.

Rode from my house to the Santa Barbara Mission, met up with Andrew M., >Mountain Drive> thru San Ysidro Ranch> up Park Lane for a look at the ‘loci genius’ kick up grade> turnaround & back down Park Lane> EVR> down Toro Canyon Rd> Hwy 192> down Cravens Lane>Via Real> Padaro Lane> to Stacky’s Seaside of Summerland for lunch>San Ysidro>Coral Casino for photo op> Bath House> up Garden & Santa Barbara Sts to the SB Mission, part ways and on home.

Jameson> Jack’s> and on back home via Coral & State St. (with a photo op at the Arco Circle: Rainbow Bridge sculpture).

The weatherman predicted noon showers. The sky was dark. So I rode solo for a short loop round Mountain Dr, Park Lane, and the Bird Refuge. As it turned out, rain held off until 6pm.

Rode solo from home to Mountain Drive, rest at Vedanta Temple, down Toro Canyon, out Hwy 192 to turnaround at Linden Ave in Carpinteria. Meet up Ashe. Then back via Padaro Lane (few Monarch butterflies left roosting at 5345 Padaro), Lunch with Ashe at Stacky’s Seaside, Coral Casino, Hendry’s Beach, through Hope Ranch, Nogal, O’Bern Trail to turnaround at Goleta Pier, and back home.

Not much wind to day. Lunch at the small town of Bradley, BBQ. Camp at Paso Robles Fairgrounds.

Total miles traveled: 258.4 (49.% of total route). Miles to go: 283.9 (51% of total route)

Tom’s Actual: Dis 65.6 miles, Av 13.6 mph, Mx 32.2 mph, Tm 4 hr 47 min, Oat 6 hr 0 min, Lv camp 2 at 6:40am, Arv camp 3 at 12:40pm.
Day 2 was 11 hours camp to camp . 9 pm bed showered and fed. Exhausted.
Day 3 was 6 hours camp to camp.
